Joe Wischerath is a senior business executive having worked in packaging, video duplication, injection molding, and new business attraction for the state of Maine.
His experiences range from finance to manufacturing to CEO level at both Fortune 500 and early-stage companies.
Prior to moving to South Carolina, Joe served as the CEO of Maine & Company, a private non-profit company formed to attract new businesses into Maine. During his tenure, Maine & Company attracted more than 3000 jobs to the state. Joe was publicly recognized by Governor Baldacci in the 2005 State of the State Address. While at Maine & Company, he co-founded the Maine Investment Exchange for the purpose of providing forums for entrepreneurs seeking risk capital to present their business plans to audiences of potential investors. Joe served on the Advisory Board of the University of Maine Business School.
Joe spent approximately ten years in multiple financial and manufacturing capacities at Container Corporation of America, after which he became president of a small start-up technology company, growing it from $5.0MM to $40MM in 3 years. Subsequent to the sale of the company and a short time with the acquirer, Joe became part owner and CEO of an R&D based, venture backed start-up that successfully designed, patented, and manufactured a new type of videocassette.
Joe spent four years in the Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer serving on-board a Fast Frigate and an Aircraft Carrier. He received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and his MBA from Marquette University. Joe currently participates as a Citadel Mentor and in the Charleston Metro Chamber’s ExecNet Program.
